The main theme of the Micro and Nanotechnology Seminar, MINAPIM 2008, will be Micro and Nanotechnologies MADE IN GERMANY.
There will also be an International Nanoforum EU Latin America Consortium (NanoforumEULA) workshop, involving Germany, Brazil, Spain, France, Holland and Mexico.

High-level speakers have already confirmed for the three-day seminar, and the range of subjects that will be covered reflects the transversal presence of microelectronics in industry nowadays.
The most significant and most important participation will be that of the different units of the German Fraunhofer Institute, which operate in the Biomedicine, Energy, and Microsystems Integration areas, along with the industry that produces equipment and devices for the manufacture of semiconductors, including MEMS (Microeletromechanical Systems).

Accompanying this scenario, as the Brazilian government has recently decided to set up a semiconductor factory in Brazil, using investments that have already been made in the Excellence Center for Advanced Electronic Technology (CEITEC) in Rio Grande do Sul, and with the installation of Fraunhofer IZM in Amazonas as an element for inducing technology transfer, Brazil can now offer a favorable environment for promoting Microelectronics businesses.

The MINAPIM 2008 Seminar and Exhibition will enable interaction with all the domestic players involved in taking government investment decisions. Furthermore, the presence of businessmen and academics will enable direct contact with the technology base that is present in Brazil and is responsible for the new technology cycle, which is being driven by industrial policies that have been adopted to provide a favorable environment for microelectronics businesses.
